New Home Remodeling

The new home changes and remodels came along quickly at first and then ever so slowly.  Putting our own touches in it makes it more exciting and feel more like home!

We stayed at Tyson's parent's house at first while they were in AZ for a month.  This was a blessing because we were all so sick in November, we didn't even felt well enough to move in to a new home, let alone unpack.  And it gave the painters and carpet layers time to do their work.

We changed Kathryn's room from this...

To this.  

With her furniture and curtains in place, it now looks almost exactly like her old room, which was my favorite room in our old house.

We painted Lydia's room from this...

To this.  Much better.

We put in completely new, clean carpet in all the upstairs bedrooms, then splurged on "chinchilla" carpet for the family room (thus named because it is so soft and we may or may not have done carpet angels on it).

A fairy named Snowflake moved in and leaves occasional notes for the kids.

We took out the white counter tops and had granite installed.  A reward for me for working so hard in my boutique this past holiday season!  Plus a new black sink with a sensor touch faucet (love it!).

It took for-ev-er! to get our basement finished.  2 1/2 months past schedule actually, during which time we were cramped with unpacked boxes and kids sharing a tiny bedroom (and you guessed it, still keeping each other up way too late at night), but it's finally finished.
  Lydia can finally get her furniture (which is actually nostalgically my set from when I was her age) and claim her room!  

And Tyler can move into his own room. 

Since he's stuck in the basement all by himself, we had to make Tyler's room exciting.  This is the best part - his bookshelf is actually a secret passageway!  

 And a fun lego light switch for Tyler.

Plus we have an office downstairs, that Tyson designed.  What a luxury!

We still need furniture for the front room and a storage bench for the mud/laundry room.  Plus a swings and a shed for outside.  But those things will come with time.
