Come Back Safe, Worker Man!

We live in such a good neighborhood.  We are surrounded on all sides by good neighbors, good friends.
One of our friends, Worker Man*, is being deployed, and as grateful as we are for him serving our country, it's hitting us hard this time because we're going to miss him so much!  He and his wife, Worker Lady* (of course), are so good with our kids.  It's pretty much mutual adoration.  We are so glad she will still be with us during these months!

*Tyler gave them their nicknames when he was just little because they're always out in their yard of garage working - or at our house helping us figure things out with our first-time-home-owner lack of knowledge.
This picture cracks me up, because if you look closely, Lydia and Worker Man have the exact same expression. :-)
Update:  He's home!  Rory/Worker Man made it home safely.  Phew!  -2/5/16

1st Day of School 2015-2016

It's the first day of school!
She has been waiting so long for this.  Ever since she would go visit Tyler's Kindergarten class with her Dad (who would read to the kids on Fridays) as a little tyke.  Now she gets to have Mrs. Adams for Kindergarten too.
And she is SO excited!
Whereas Tyler is a calm, confident pro at this school thing!

Elephants and Ribbons

These were our highlights at the Davis County Fair this year -

See that kid?  That's right, Tyler won not just 1st place, but Best of Division (aka: best photo of all the youth entries) at the county fair!  Not only that, but his photo was selected to be published in the First National Bank Calendar.  When I sent over his bio, the bank representative was shocked to hear that he was only 8-years-old!
Earlier in the summer, I took the kids up to the Bountiful temple, gave Tyler my camera, and set him loose.  He put some thought into it, then went around taking pictures.  Afterwards, we uploaded the pictures and he choose 2 to enter into the fair.  All his, no editing on my part.  He even decided how to do the crop so his photos would fit the 8x10 fair regulations.
He titled his photos "The Glass Waterfall" and "The Pink Sunflower".  So, with the latter, he won the ribbon, the calendar spot, and some gold dollar coins.  What better prizes could you give a kid?
And I got to ride on an elephant. :-)

Bike Rides and Otter Pops

Ever since Lydia got her bike for her birthday, she's been asking to go on a bike ride with Worker Man (our next door neighbor).  Today she got her wish!
He took her on a good ride, all around the neighborhood.
While Kathryn went for a walk in our new wagon.
And then ate an otter pop.
How a baby can stand that cold, I just don't know, but she loves them!
Thank you Worker Man (Rory)!  You are the best neighbor a family could ever ask for!
